These are a few of my favorite things (unfortunately both can cause addiction)…

Enter Lot18

It’s a website that provides access to high quality, hard-to-find, WINES.

If that wasn’t enough for you, it gets better!!!

wait for it…

wait for it…

It’s…shipped…direct…to…your…door!!!

WHAT?! Wine AND online shopping all-in-one?

L-O-V-E

I can’t even remember how I stumbled across the website, but on November 13th, I did.  Since then, I’ve received those enticing marketing ploys in my inbox daily – free shipping, one in a million finds, 100 pt winemaker… and guess what?  They work!  I’ve already placed 2 orders!

Order one arrived today and I’m so excited to try it this weekend! It’s a Cabernet Sauvignon from Topel Winery in Hopland, CA.  I received two bottles and paid a bargain price of $19.83 per bottle.  These typically run $36/bottle plus shipping!

Order two will be arriving shortly.  It’s also a Cabernet Sauvignon (wow – can you tell what my favorite red is?) from Elevage Wine Co. in Ellensburg, WA. Two bottles also come with this shipment for $19.99 each. I’m not sure what the retail price normally is for this one.  Must be one of those “hard-to-find” ones. 🙂

Wine Down for the Weekend reviews on both of these will follow sometime soon…

Wine Down for the Weekend – Pro+mis+Q+ous (red)

Who knew a post about wine could draw in so many new visitors?! Since my first review, wine has been gaining speed in the top search engine terms that bring people to Candidly Savage. Big ass and friendship better move over!

Glad to know I’m not the only one out there addicted to a good bottle of wine!

Selection of the week…

  • Brand: Pro+mis+Q+ous (red)
  • Varietal: Red Blend (Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah)
  • Vintage: ?
  • Region: CA (42% Lodi)
  • Savage Rating: 8
  • Notes: berry with a little kick
  • Website: http://www.promisqous.com/

  •  9 = Outstanding! I could enjoy a glass or two or three every night
  •  8 = Very Good! I might even share this bottle because it’s good, but not so outstanding that I want it all for myself
  •  7 = Good, but this wine better move over if there is an 8,9, or 10 in the room
  •  6 = It’s ok.  I probably won’t purchase again, but if someone else purchases it, I wouldn’t turn it down
  •  5 = Not bad, but not too good either
  •  4 = Not my cup of tea
  •  3 = A waste of money – Period
  •  2 = Pretty horrible, but not quite backwash material

Wine Down For the Weekend – 3 Girls CS

Get excited! I’m bringing another love of mine to the blog – Wine!  After all, isn’t everything better with wine?

This will be the first of many “Wine Down For the Weekend” posts, but they probably won’t be every week…   What do you think I am?  A wino?  I can’t drink a bottle to my head EVERY week (well, maybe I can, but I shouldn’t!).

So, look for these recaps every other week.  If you start to see them weekly, there’s a problem…that, or my wino sister came over for a visit and we shared the love. 🙂

Selection of the week…

  • Brand: 3 Girls
  • Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Vintage: 2009
  • Region: Lodi, CA
  • Savage Rating: 9
  • Notes: I find this quite smooth and taste a hint of vanilla.

Hmmm…Is it the reconnecting or the wine?

Favorite song of the moment = For The First Time – The Script

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

“But we’re gonna start by drinkin’ old cheap bottles of wine…Sit talking up all night… Sayin’ things we haven’t for awhile….We’re smiling but we’re close to tears…Even after all these years…We just now got the feelin’ that we’re meeting for the first time”

I think this resonates with me because life gets so hectic that it’s hard to stay connected with those you love. For example, trying to have a conversation with your spouse about your day when two kiddos are vying for your attention is like trying to scream when you’re in the middle of the ocean scuba diving – nobody hears you! and trust me, I know! (more on that later).

Anyway, one of my favorite things to do after the kids go to bed is sit on our screened porch with the hubby, drink wine, and catch up on conversation.  Sometimes we even throw in an 80s music jam session, talk about our favorite songs and scare the outdoor wildlife away when we get into the groove and sing along.  That’s when I settle into the comfort of the familiarity of him, yet fathom at the newness of getting to know him.

Friendship and Bras

You know those people in your life that you can be apart from for months or years at a time and when you meet-up again, it’s like no time has passed at all?

My oldest friend and his wife are in town for a visit this weekend from Ontario, Canada.  We’ve known each other since I was around 14 or so (that’s 19 years for those of you trying to count it out in your head) and I can’t wait to kick off the weekend with them!  I’m looking forward to having them meet the kids in person, to catching up on what they’ve been doing, to drinking wine on the porch and reminiscing with lots of “remember that time when…”, to debates and to long talks about everything and nothing at all once.

Cheers to friendship and to people you can be….well…”you” around.

Is it normal to be this excited over a grocery store?

Trader Joe’s FINALLY got hip and opened some stores near us!  To say I was excited is an understatement.  I’ve been on the “Bring Trader Joe’s to (insert city here)” bandwagon for 5 years now!  I see many dinners of cheese, baked pita crackers, fruit and wine in my future.

If only I could get them to pay me in a lifetime supply of two buck chuck for all the money they are going to make in this city! (btw, the wine is well worth the $2 price tag!)

So, what’s your opinion? Love it or “don’t get it”?  Disclaimer – If your answer is that you “don’t get it”, a blunt object may hit you upside the head.
